SHAYUKOU: the Paintings by Paul Lorenz
August 15 @ 5:00pm to September 23 @ 5:00pm
“Abstraction is not a style, but a state of mind…a way of thinking about action, time and circumstance, confidence and risk-taking, boldness and subtlety.“
Join us at Saturday, August 15 from 5 – 7 p.m. for the opening reception of Paul Lorenz’s solo exhibition SHAYUKOU: the Paintings at Yeiser Art Center. Lorenz will be exhibiting works completed during his 2014 artist residency at Shangyuan Art Museum in Beijing, China. These works diverge from his meticulous, fine line pencil work and embrace a more gestural way of mark making through bold ink and brush patterns on rice paper. The exhibition will be on display through September 23, 2015.
Although based in Paducah’s LowerTown Arts District, Lorenz exhibits with numerous galleries across the USA and Europe. As a member of Pintura Fresca, an international group of abstract artists, he has exhibited worldwide, with past exhibitions in Australia, Singapore, Austria, England and Sweden.
